The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is full of plenty of followers to team up with the Dragonborn, but Serana really does stand a cut above the competition as an especially deadly companion whose magical abilities makes her a destructive force of nature on the battlefield. Serana initially can only raise zombies, but she replaces this with Reanimate Corpse and, eventually, Summon Revenant. This gives Serana her own small - albeit temporary - squad to lend reinforcements to the Dragonborn in battle. However, the biggest advantage Serana has is her necromancy powers, with her high Conjuration levels allowing her to raise corpses and revenants to fight alongside her and overwhelm any opponent that stands in her way. As Serana levels up, she begins using Lightning Bolt at a distance, eventually replacing Ice Spike and Lightning Bolt with Ice Storm and Chain Lightning, respectively, as she continues to grow stronger. In regards to her powerful magical abilities, Serana tends to favor using Vampiric Drain and Drain Life to sap her opponents' health, along with Ice Spike to deal additional damage. However, she can be equipped with stronger armor and weaponry that take advantage of her Light Armor and One-Handed weapon skills. Once her magical reserves are depleted, Serana quickly moves to melee combat, with her default weapon being an Elven DaggeR. Serana comes equipped with the magical Vampire Royal Armor, with the enchantment allowing her to regenerate magical energy at an accelerated rate. While Serana also has a high Stealth level, she has a tendency to draw enemies with a noticeably aggressive nature. Serana boasts high levels of Conjuration and Destructions, making her a formidable magic user, along with high levels in her Light Armor and One-Handed skills.

Siding with the Dragonborn against her father, Serana proves to be invaluable in preventing Harkon from plunging Skyrim into eternal darkness through an ancient blood ritual.
